Kaolin is a white aluminiosilicate (AI4Si4010(OH)8), non-porous which does not swell, with low abrasivity. Easily dispersible in water and inactive with rather different pH percentages. It is a mineral which properly refined and purified is not harmful to human.
It is a kaolinitic clay with double action: it covers vegetables with a white patina counteracting the thermal effect and preventing burns and it creates an unfriendly environment for oviposition and phytophagous insects.
Kaolin is used for foliar irrigation. As for all treatments based on mineral substances it is recommended to intervene with more treatments repeated rather than exceeding in the dosage in order to avoid problems of asphyxia of vegetables. It is compatible with most pesticides and fertilizers present on the market. When mixed with other products it shall be included first in the liquid solution.
